Best-Rated CPAs and Accounting Firms in the Chicago Area
A Google rating measures what clients chose to write about a firm on Google. It does not measure the accuracy of a return, the size of a refund or the result of any audit or filing, and this page does not present it as though it did.
The firms below are spread across the city and the suburbs, and they differ in the work they offer, from individual tax returns to bookkeeping, business accounting and financial planning. Check the office address and the services on each listing. Nothing on this page states a fee or an outcome, whether or not a firm publishes one of its own.

How to read this page
The order is produced by a rule with no membership term in it: the rating snapshot first, then the review count, then the business name. Premier placement does not change the order on this page. Here a Premier member places below a listing that pays this directory nothing.
Nothing on this page is tax, legal or financial advice, and a rating snapshot cannot tell you which firm is right for your returns or your business.
Every figure here is a snapshot of a public Google Business Profile on the date shown beside it. Google ratings move, so the live figure may differ from the one on this page.
Chicagoland Reviews does not vet or endorse any business listed. All review counts and ratings are arithmetic records of publicly posted Google customer reviews.
How do I choose a CPA or accounting firm?
Check the license, ask whether the firm regularly handles work like yours, and ask how it charges and who will do the work. The ratings above say how reviewers felt about a firm, not which firm suits your household or your business. Questions to ask before you engage one:
The license
In Illinois, a person who uses the CPA title, and a CPA firm with an office in the state that uses that title, must apply to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation for a license under the Illinois Public Accounting Act. Ask for the license, and check it with the License Look Up on the Department’s website.
The work you need
Ask whether the firm regularly prepares returns like yours, or handles bookkeeping, payroll or business accounts of your size, and whether the person who prepares your return is a CPA. Ask, too, whether the firm can represent you if a tax agency contacts you later.
How the firm charges, and who does the work
Ask for the engagement letter in writing, and read it before you sign. Ask whether the firm charges by the return, by the hour or by the month, which person will be responsible for your work, and how quickly the firm answers questions during tax season.
Each listing gives the firm’s office address and contact details.
