We had a global company dinner at Miru this past week and the experience was sublime. The views, the food and the oh so fabulous staff were all on point! I highly recommend Miru not just for the food but the experience as well.

Food was superb, as were the drinks. Service was honestly pretty bad considering the quality of the restaurant. Multiple long waits to get servers attention, also witnessed our specific waiter mess up others orders. As far as food goes: Pork belly skewer was phenomenal, rainbow sushi roll was great, steak was great, cocktails were all good. View on the rooftop portion was great, looks out to Navy pier so a beautiful spot at night. Overall a great spot but too expensive for the service, need to knock prices down by about 15% or hire better wait staff.
I will caution you not to make the same mistake I made when initially making our reservation. Since Miru is a sushi restaurant, I assumed the reservation times displayed would be for lunch, dinner, or at least after 5:00 p.m. However, because Miru is located inside the St. Regis, the hours begin as early as 6:00 a.m. I accidentally made our reservation for the wrong time! Luckily, when we arrived, they had room for us, and I was so grateful. We sat on the patio, which has a beautiful view of Lake Michigan, especially if you can get a table near the glass. Unfortunately, there was one major downside: the lights Miru uses on the patio attract bugs—and a lot of them! The lights could not be turned off, and because the patio was full, we couldn't move to another area. I basically had to put mind over matter to keep myself from getting completely disgusted. Thankfully, the food was so good that it distracted us from the bugs for a while. We enjoyed the edamame, shishito peppers, seared salmon belly, kampachi, several of the signature raw bites, spicy bluefin tuna crispy rice, chicken karaage, wild mushroom sizzling rice, and the black cod. Everything was absolutely delicious! Despite the bug situation, the food and beautiful lakefront setting made Miru a memorable dining experience.
Best sushi likely ever outside Tokyo. They cater to a well heeled clientele and deliver. Spot on.
Miru was the best restaurant i’ve ever been to, hands down, the service was amazing and I had chats with multiple staff during my meal, all of whom were knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to recommend dishes and share their experiences with me! I will definitely be coming back and will recommend this place to friends. Shoutout to my server, Sol, chefs Yuki and Bryan, and food runner Ryan. These employees made my experience special and one of the best meals I’ve ever had.
The edamame and miso were uncommonly good. Grilled avocado was not special. Lobster rolls fine but not noteworthy. The nigiri were above average. Where they barely earned the 4 wad the rolls. I feel the rucecwas excessive and the fish was skimpy. The server was great. Attentive and fun.
