Sushi by Scratch Restaurants: Chicago

We loved the experience at Sushi by Scratch. PJ guided a beautiful night with his Japanese whisky and cocktail selection. The space is unique as a true speakeasy 20 feet below ground. The chef-curated sushi was a 10/10. It was an unforgettable dining experience.

I recently visited Sushi by Scratch Restaurants: Chicago and had an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The intimate setting created a sophisticated atmosphere that made the evening feel truly special. The restaurant offers an omakase-style experience where each course is carefully prepared and presented directly to guests. Every piece of sushi showed impressive attention to detail, from the quality of the fish to the balance of flavors and textures. I especially enjoyed how each course felt distinct while still fitting into the overall progression of the meal. The chefs were engaging and clearly passionate about their craft. Their explanations added another layer of appreciation to each dish without making the experience feel overly formal. The ingredients tasted exceptionally fresh, and the presentation was precise and elegant. The pacing between courses was excellent, giving enough time to appreciate each creation. The service was attentive, professional, and personalized throughout the entire evening. I also appreciated the intimate atmosphere, which made the experience feel much more exclusive than a typical sushi restaurant. The price is definitely on the higher end, but the quality, creativity, and overall experience make it feel worthwhile for a special occasion. Every course felt thoughtfully designed rather than simply being another piece of sushi. I left extremely satisfied and impressed by the level of craftsmanship. I would definitely recommend Sushi by Scratch Restaurants: Chicago to anyone looking for a unique and memorable omakase experience.

COME HERE. And specifically ask for JP, Mike, and Noel. They are absolutely incredible, not going to leave you anything but beyond satisfied. From showmanship to mannerism these three brought the whole experience. Some of if not the best omakase I’ve ever had. Sneak peak: bread crumbs brought in from an Italian Michelin star restaurant, salt literally from the Himalayan mountains. THEY DONT PLAY.

An experience that you’ll never forget- months later. Raw, fresh and authentic ingredients! Impeccable taste, incredible table side manners and most importantly profound versatility. Every single step of the way your needs are met. Everything was carefully crafted and curated for every single person. I can’t wait to come back !!!

This is the best sushi restaurant I've ever had. I had been to the Austin location before so I knew what to expect but these guys went above and beyond. Fantastic from start to finish! The music kind of sucks but aside from that TOP NOTCH
